A Decorative Floor Poured on Concrete
Metallic epoxy floors use pearlescent pigments mixed into a clear or tinted epoxy. While the resin is still wet, the installer works it with rollers, brushes, sprayers or solvent to move the pigment into swirls, veins or a lava-like pattern. No two floors come out the same. The finished surface is smooth and glossy, with a sense of depth that a flat color cannot give.
Where it fits
In a home built on a concrete slab, concrete is already under the tile or carpet. Metallic epoxy suits converted garages, game rooms, home gyms, bars and open-plan living areas, as well as showpiece garages, boutiques, salons and offices. It is less suited to heavy-duty shops, where a flake or quartz system hides scratches better.
What a metallic floor shows
A mirror-smooth surface puts every scuff, footprint and bit of dust on display, far more than the busy pattern of chips would. Dark colors show more than light. Grit carried in from a sandy yard or a pool deck acts like sandpaper, so walk-off mats at the doors help. A satin topcoat can tone down the shine and hide wear a little better.
Sun and color
Epoxy is rated poor to fair for UV resistance and can yellow in sunlight. A metallic floor in a room with big sliding doors or a garage that faces the afternoon sun should get a UV-stable clear topcoat, such as polyaspartic or an aliphatic urethane, so colors stay true. We ask about windows and doors at the estimate for this reason.
The slab underneath
A metallic floor is self-leveling and thin compared with its visual depth, so any flaw in the slab can telegraph through: cracks, old tile adhesive ridges, patches. Old tile and thinset are removed and the slab is ground flat. And because indoor slabs here sit over a high water table, moisture testing matters just as much as in a garage. A vapor problem under a glossy metallic floor shows up as bubbles or cloudy patches that are hard to repair invisibly.
Designing the look
We start with your room: its light, furniture and use. You choose a base color and one or more metallic accents, and we show sample boards made with those pigments. We will explain how much the pattern can be directed and how much is left to how the resin moves. If you want a specific look, show us photos; we will say honestly how close we can get.
Care
Dust mop daily in busy rooms, damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner, and use felt pads under furniture. A worn topcoat can be scuffed and recoated without redoing the metallic layer.

How It Works
1. Design
We look at the room, then choose base color and metallic accents from sample boards.
2. Prepare the slab
Old flooring removed, slab ground flat, cracks filled, moisture checked.
3. Pour and work
Primer and base coat, then the metallic layer worked by hand while wet.
4. Topcoat
A clear UV-stable coat in gloss or satin.

Metallic Epoxy Floors Questions
Can metallic epoxy go over tile?
We do not coat over tile. Grout lines and loose tiles show through and can crack the coating. Tile and thinset are removed and the concrete is ground.
Does metallic epoxy scratch?
Any glossy floor shows scratches. Mats at the doors, felt pads and a satin topcoat reduce what you see, and the topcoat can be renewed.
Is metallic epoxy slippery?
It is smooth, and smooth floors are slick when wet. An anti-slip additive can go in the topcoat, especially near pool doors and kitchens.
Can I choose the exact pattern?
You choose the colors and the general style. The final pattern depends on how the resin and pigment move, which is part of the look.
