Epoxy flooring in Dania Beach is close to home for us: the city borders Davie on its west side, between Fort Lauderdale to the north and Hollywood to the south. It is a compact city of about 8 square miles with a mix of older houses, apartments, shops and businesses near the airport and waterfront. Shops, warehouses and service bays

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport sits right next to the city, and Dania Beach has its own mix of shops, offices and service businesses, from Dania Pointe downtown to marine-related headquarters. Rain, wind and slab moisture

During the April 2023 flood, a swath of 15 to 20 inches of rain fell from Hollywood to Dania Beach, and an EF0 tornado damaged trees and a mobile home park in the city. The city sits about 10 feet above sea level over a shallow, highly permeable limestone aquifer. That combination means slabs can carry moisture, especially ground-floor shops and older garages. We test before we coat, and if a floor flooded recently, we let it dry and test again before quoting a system.

Older homes and rentals

The town was incorporated in 1904 by mostly Danish-American farmers, and the area was once called the "Tomato Capital of the World." Today about 46.8% of homes are owner-occupied, so many of the properties we see are rentals. For landlords, a flake garage floor with a durable topcoat holds up between tenants and is quick to clean at turnover. For owners of older homes, we expect old paint, patches and cracks and quote the prep needed to deal with them.

Outdoor surfaces close to the ocean deal with strong sun, salt and sand. We use UV-stable coatings for patios, lanais and pool decks and add texture for grip. Salt residue should be rinsed off now and then; a sealed surface makes that easy.
